Terry A. Rustin, MD – Psychiatrist
A physician with a primary interest in patients with co-occurring addictions and mental illness, Dr. Terry Rustin began working in the addictions field more than 50 years ago, while still in medical school. He served 21 years on the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, where he trained medical students, residents, and nurse practitioners, and ran a dual recovery treatment program.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stanford University and an MD degree from the Oregon Health and Science University. His residency was with the Tucson Hospitals Medical Education Program, and he has advanced training in psychology and psychotherapy.
“I see individuals with mental, emotional and behavioral problems in addition to their addiction,” says Dr. Rustin. “My challenge is to determine how best to help them achieve a happy, healthy and productive life in recovery.”
