Chris Raymer to Lead San Angelo Workshop

Getting sober and staying that way is hard. Chris Raymer, our Recovery Community Director, knows; he’s been there.

“I spent seven years trying to get sober–meetings, therapy, meds, church–nothing seemed to work consistently,” says Chris. “I’m always amazed me how some folks seem to get well so quickly, while some of us continued to struggle.”

For him, the answer came in 1987 when he “hooked up with some different folks that seemed to be doing things different, got sober, and have stayed that way for 31 years.”

Sobriety for Keeps!

Chris will share what he has learned during a Tuesday, August 27, workshop–“Sobriety for Keeps! Let’s talk about those lurking notions that lead to relapse!”–for alumni and the recovery community in San Angelo.

The event in the fellowship hall of the Glen Meadows Baptist Church, 6002 Knickerbocker, starts with refreshments at 6:30 p.m., then Chris will talk at 7 p.m.

“Working in the treatment field for the last 26 years, I’ve watched many folks make the same mistakes I did,” says Chris. “Life is complicated, and we are all different, but the solution is the same for most of us.”

“This short workshop discusses some of the things we can do that will positively affect our sobriety. For keeps!
